Proceedings:

The crisis of the pandemic situation of Covid 19 along with additional burdens of human mishandling natural resources calls for a plan of action to restore the planet earth. This year the Earth Day was celebrated by N.S.D. Educational Welfare Trust keeping in mind the mission of environmental protection and conservation. Thus, the team planned to plant tree sapling in the neighbourhood and nourish them throughout the years to make the locality green and to focus on restoring global ecosystem at a larger level.

The tree plantation program started at 6:30 am in the morning when the team members joined together with the aim of planning 12 saplings in the locality. A deep and wide pit was dig in the ground for planting the sapling. Later it was watered and additional nutritional elements were added to the plant roots to ensure its healthy growing.

As the saplings were planted, many people, especially the morning walkers came and asked the team about what is happening. The team explained to them about the importance of Earth Day celebration and the reason behind planting trees in the neighbourhood. The locals encouraged the team to do more such activities and also helped them in plantation. Thus this programme ensured public participation as well as enhanced mass awareness on environment protection and conservation.

Debrief:

After completion of the tree plantation programme the team discussed about the learnings and outcomes of the program. Overall the program was very successful though it was implemented at a small scale. The team also came up with the idea that in future whenever the trust will hand out gifts, the gift will contain tree planting seeds so that this drive continues in future through other dignitaries and be sustainable in nature.
